colportage, itin\u00e9raire trac\u00e9 \u00e0 travers la garrigue et les vignes pour relier la montagne \u00e0 la plaine, des ch\u00e2taigneraies aux rives de la M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e\u2026 ce chemin par l\u2019abbaye de Fontcaude est remarquable par son paysage ou son patrimoine vernaculaire. C\u2019est un balcon d\u2019o\u00f9 l\u2019on aper\u00e7oit le golfe du Lion. Il est trac\u00e9 au coeur du pays Haut-Languedoc et Vignobles. Il est jalonn\u00e9 des traces des cultes antiques, marqu\u00e9 par l\u2019\u00e9ternel flux de circulation des hommes et de leurs produits depuis la pr\u00e9histoire.<\/p><p>Cet itin\u00e9raire offre de belles p\u00e9pites qui sont les traces de la v\u00e9n\u00e9rable histoire de cette province du Languedoc : des abris de vigne aux ch\u00e2teaux pinardiers, des \u00e9glises romanes, l\u2019\u00e9glise de Cazedarnes avec ses fresques de Nicolas Greschny, la forme des villages, les jeux de lumi\u00e8re sur les pierres, le charmant village de Roquebrun, le plafond peint \u00e0 Capestang et l\u2019imposante coll\u00e9giale \u00e0 jamais inachev\u00e9e \u2026<\/p><p>La vari\u00e9t\u00e9 des paysages et les panoramas lointains est son point fort : des montagnes du Haut-Languedoc \u00e0 la plaine viticole, ponctuation de garrigue, for\u00eats, vignobles et oliveraies.<\/p><p>La tradition du pays garde la m\u00e9moire des jacquets et des roumieux allant et venant dans la plaine languedocienne. Ainsi, l\u2019abbaye de Fontcaude conserve un rare chapiteau du 14\u00e8me si\u00e8cle sur lequel figure un p\u00e8lerin portant coquille sur sa besace. Ici et l\u00e0, une confr\u00e9rie, une statue, une coquille attestent de la d\u00e9votion jacquaire.<\/p><p>Le sentier d\u00e9bouche \u00e0 Capestang : la via Domitia y a \u00e9t\u00e9 trac\u00e9e. Au Moyen-Age, le passage des p\u00e8lerins y est attest\u00e9 par les r\u00e9cits. Sous Louis XIV, Riquet y perce le canal des Deux-Mers.<\/p><p>Le sentier GR\u00ae78-7 est un itin\u00e9raire de liaison entre l\u2019itin\u00e9raire d\u2019Arles vers Saint-Jacques de Compostelle depuis Saint-Gervais sur Mare (GR\u00ae653) et l\u2019itin\u00e9raire des Pi\u00e9monts vers Saint-Jacques de Compostelle (futur GR\u00ae78-1) \u00e0 Capestang. Il est balis\u00e9 en rouge et blanc et \u00e0 double circulation : vers la montagne ou vers la plaine.<\/p><p>L\u2019itin\u00e9raire est essentiellement rural. Il est facile \u00e0 parcourir tout en \u00e9tant piment\u00e9 de quelques d\u00e9nivel\u00e9s. De St Gervais au Poujol-sur-Orb, l\u2019itin\u00e9raire est en zone de montagne avec d\u00e9nivel\u00e9s. Apr\u00e8s une ascension assez raide du plateau, le sentier se poursuit en descente douce vers la plaine viticole. Les coups de soleil pourront \u00eatre au rendez-vous aux heures chaudes de l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9.
